Weekly ramblings – 19 Oct

I hope you have had a lovely week – definitely feeling the Autumn vibes now.
It is without doubt, my favourite season……



I actually look forward to the reduction in daylight hours and feel it is a wonderful time of year to legitimately ‘stay in!!’ I’m all about the HYGGE – fires, cosy socks & hearty food x
  
However, take a look below to see what our hormones are up to during the difference in light & darkness….
 
Did you know?…….
 
.. the hormones that are released to aid the metabolic process are sensitive to our circadian rhythm?

The two main hormones are –

LEPTIN which registers fullness &
GHRELIN which registers hunger
 

They slow down & rest when its dark – as historically we would have been resting at this time. 

Of course, we are stimulated 24 hours a day now, but our hormones still react with the circadian rhythm.

This is really interesting, especially if you are considering fasting – encouraging you to eat in a shorter window of time (perhaps between 10am & 6pm) as it backs up some of the science behind it in a really simple way.
